Helicopter KA-62 receives aviation certification

06/12/2021

The Russian aviation authority approved helicopter Ka-62.

Our team was responsible for the complete development, testing and production of the drive train.

The commissioning of the world-famous helicopter manufacturer in 2011 was of national importance. It was the first helicopter drive train developed entirely in Austria. Zoerkler wrote Austrian aviation history by doing so.

The drive train of the Ka-62 was a completely new development. Our Team was responsible for the complete development, testing and production of the drive train consisting of the main and rear gearbox as well as the main and rear shaft. The final certification tests were also carried out on the state-of-the-art transmission test benches at our company's site in Jois.

The range of the Ka-62 is 700 km and the top speed 310 km/h. It has seating capacity for 15 passengers and can carry two tons of cargo in the cabin and up to 2.5 tons of external load.

The first flight of the Russian civil transport helicopter took place in Arseniev, Russia in 2016. Since then, it has been anticipated with great enthusiasm by the international aerospace industry. The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, has also shown keen interest.

The next step will be the series production of the drive train, which we will also carry out at our company location in Austria.
